![]() When I see what they have already, and if I import a nice set of generic textures, I can get my mental visualizations kickstarted! :-) My biggest issue for use was being able to visualize how they would look on a particular picture. I've enjoyed the heck out of what others have done with textures. Should have Texture Effects in a day or two. I've put in a request for the upgrade price for full CC owners. Thanks for the tip on running the stand-a-lone. I have made some gorgeous pictures that I will be posting next week. Haven't tried it in Lightroom yet, but I will do that too. I had all sorts of problems - on two brand new computers - with it as a standalone. Thanks I should have read your post to the end :) Running as a standalone seems to have kick started the plug in. PS - I managed to get $40 off with the combination of the current promo code and being a previous bundle purchaser, so it was less than £30 in UK money. A real rival to Mister Retro, espcially with the option to brush out parts of the effects. Only had a brief play but it'll be fun for certain situations. One or two sliders were a bit slow to respond, but if you allow for a bit of lag (until the issues are debugged) then it's fine. Once everything was in cache, it ran with few problems from Photoshop and Lightroom for me. I downloaded this morning - slow to load up, but the splash screen warns you that it might be. Have you tried running it as a stand alone application? I am running CS5 and when I go into Topaz Textures there is no panels and I cant connect to the community? I also have to log in to Topaz each time I go in which is annoying. Now when running it as a plug-in all is OK. It takes a while to initalise (I do have an older PC) howver they do become available. If you are not seeing any supplied textures in the library, when using it a a plug-in from CC then run Topaz Textures as a stand alone application. I don't have anything uploaded to flickr yet, but I just did a review/walkthrough based on the Texture Effects Beta yesterday on my blog here: I don't feel it is an end all, nor universal processing need, but I also like to take a single image file, and process it a half dozen ways, or enjoy having different tools for different jobs or effect when the need arises. While I totally understand those who don't enjoy, nor want to use textures (or any effect), personally, I love playing around with them. Texture Effects is more than just a texture overlay plugin, and I think we've only begun to see what is possible with the incorporation of a community driven, texture upload feature. To bring in your own texture open it as you would a photo then click on new on upper right, then click save a box pops up name & label it. What I mean is I do not like using textures generally and not that i do not like the plugin, which I have no reason to try.Ĭ.G.Photos edited this topic 75 months ago. I am not a great fan of textures tbh but have nevertheless seen some very likeable results. I'm trying to find out if you can use some of your own textures in this plug-in. I got it just today but haven't posted anything yet.
